Waiting

WAITING

The verb to wait has a great deal of meaning, it can be defined and used as “to wait, especially for a short while” and synonyms are “hang on”, “hold your horses” and “be patient”, or it can mean “to continue on a course of action or direction or maintain something such as a set of principles or a particular state of mind when we reflect upon that”.

In any event, people spend time, energy and emotional expense in “waiting”. How you wait, whether patiently or impatiently can make an impression upon your state of mind, and can influence how others view you as well.

Rather than struggling with some emotions, even anger when one is waiting, think how you could pass the time in a peaceful and meaningful way. This may not mean staring intently at your smart phone, talking on the phone or being “plugged in”. Waiting provides you an opportunity to slow down, look around, soak in some of the ambiance which is otherwise passing you by, the smell of roses, as well other smells, sights, sounds and impressions.
